Class time today is devoted to finishing the judges' comic strips.

Wednesday, March 28, 2007 (blue)

The due date for the chapter 5 exercises has been changed to Tuesday, April 3; all work must be turned in on or before this date. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get the work to school that day.

We talked briefly about the role of the judges in biblical times. Students then were assigned one of three of the major judges - Deborah, Gideon, or Samson - to create a comic strip. The comic strip must tell the story of the assigned judge and must have between 6 and 9 frames; each student is creating his/her own cartoon. It will be graded on creativity and how well the story is told. Approximately half of Friday's class will be allotted to finish the comic strips. We will then take a look at everyone's finished product.

We began by discussing some of the laws from Leviticus and how they apply to our lives today. We then looked at Joshua's story (pages 94-104) and how he led the Israelites into Canaan after Moses' death, and related some of the events of the siege of Jericho to events happening in our world today. Students were then asked to write their own Holiness Code according to the directions at the bottom of page 78. If there was time in class, we discussed these; if not, we will discuss them on Tuesday, March 20.

We are working in the library today on a project related to the Exodus. It is a small group project (with 3 components - artistic, written, & oral presentation), researching different areas of the world that have serious conflicts, causing thousands of people to be exiled. You will have time in class to work in your groups on Friday, March 9, 2007. This project is due on Tuesday, March 13, 2007. The homework assignment, #8 on page 62 of the text, was collected as well.

The Passover worksheets were returned today and we went over the correct answers. We then watched episode #2 of Joan of Arcadia, and discussed how God may ask us to do things we do not understand initially, like Joan's joining AP Chemistry. However, God always has a reason for His requests; Joan being in AP Chemistry had far-reaching effects, especially on her older brother, Kevin. Homework for Wednesday, March 7, is to complete #8 at the bottom of page 62 in your textbook. You must have three paragraphs (one for each thing you take for granted) ready to hand in at the start of next class. You do NOT need to copy a psalm that refers to how God takes care of us. This may be typed, but does not have to be. NOTE: Block 3 also took the Exodus quiz today.
