The research papers were collected today. As a couple of people still have to take the prophets test, I will return those on Monday, June 4. Students were put into small groups according to their research paper topics and asked to give a brief overview of the Jewish holiday/celebration they researched. Then students paired up and chose a wisdom book to give a very informal, 10-point presentation to their peers during class today. (They were asked to summarize the material presented in their textbook on the chosen wisdom book.) There is no homework for Monday.

Classes were shortened today due to the Campus Conversation. A few brief notes were given on the Remnant and the Jews after the Babylonian Exile. While I checked the second part of the research paper, students worked on a Prophets Crossword Puzzle designed to review for the test on Tuesday, May 29. We then went over the answers to the puzzle at the end of class.

We finished watching the movie Keeping the Faith, which took most of the block. I checked everyone's rough draft (first half only) and made comments before returning them. I also changed the page requirement for the mini-research paper, from 3-5 to 2-4 pages. There will be a test on the prophets on Tuesday, May 29. Study guides and prophets charts were handed out today. There is a lot of material on the prophets, so do not wait until the last minute to begin studying!

We finished notes on chapter 8 - Lamentations, Baruch, Ezekiel, and the Persians freeing the Judahites to return home. We looked at how to cite sources in the Writers Inc. book and then went to the library for more research on the mini-research paper. Rough drafts of specified parts of the paper are due on Tuesday and Thursday next week, May 22 & 24. Each day the assignment is worth 5 points. The students were given a handout detailing this information.

Block one did not meet today due to the sexuality assembly (however, the two prophets worksheets were collected today).

Blocks 3 & 4 presented their modern day prophets collages and wrote a reflection on this morning's assembly. We then did a guided meditation on Ezekiel's Vision of Dry Bones and wrote reflectively on it while we were in the chapel. The two prophets worksheets were collected as well.

After finishing the chapter 7 notes on Isaiah and Micah, we listened to the Garth Brooks song "We Shall Be Free." We discussed how it is a modern day 'prophesy.' Students then worked on creating Modern Day Prophets collages in small groups (students chose their own groups). The collages are due at the start of class on Thursday, May 10.

Chapter 6 tests were returned, reviewed, and recollected. Students then presented their Proverbs Bookmarks, telling which proverb they chose, why they chose it, and what it means. We finished any remaining notes on the prophets in the northern kingdom and looked at the names of Hosea's children. As a fun, small group activity, we completed exercise 12 on page 162. Homework for Tuesday, May 8, is both the Jeremiah worksheet and the Ezekiel worksheet; homework for Thursday, May 10, is the Hosea's Marriage assignment
